Proud Alaskan History

Alaska Petroleum Distributing has been serving Fairbanks and the surrounding areas since 1981 and values its long-time family history in the community. With strong local brand recognition, APD has a balanced commercial and retail customer portfolio, delivering heating oil, gasoline, and diesel fuels. It is one of the largest fuel distributors in the interior.

1981

Born in Fairbanks and raised in a gold camp at Cleary, Gus Johnson, started APD with one phone and one truck out of his house. He was the lone driver.

2000s

APD grows and has 10 trucks, employs 20 people and opens The Gas Line, a gas station with a convenience store.

2019

APD joined the NorthStar Energy family of companies​.

2020

APD has 21 fuel delivery trucks, 8 tractor/semi-trucks, and 17 trailers.

2021

APD celebrates 40 years in business.

For over 15 years, APD has donated time and resources to the American Heart Association. To date, APD has raised over $300,000 in support of AHA. In 2021, Lisa Sundborg, General Manager of APD, was named the co-chair of the AHA Fairbanks Heart Walk.

Ice Alaska is the World Championships of ice sculptures. APD provides fuel for the trucks and moving equipment that transport the blocks of carving ice. APD also proudly supports other various community events and organizations and grants can be requested below.
